2005 … Re-befriending Francis

This is also the year when I began to crystallize my resolve to set my True Self (a.k.a. my conscience – what some call the Soul) free; when I decided to rededicate my life to the selfless service of others (a la The Way of Christ that was humbly yet boldly embodied by Jesus, Peace Pilgrim & St. Francis of Assisi – among more than a few others) …

“Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury let me sow pardon. Where there is fear let me sow courage. Where there is despair let me sow resolve. Where there is darkness let me bring light. Where there is sadness let me shower joy. Oh Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, to be served as to serve. For I know that it is giving that I truly receive, that it is in pardoning that I myself am pardoned, and that it is in dying to the needs of my community that I am reborn eternal.” ~ via St Francis of Assisi

Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received – only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, selfless love, joyful sacrifice and bold courage.” ~ via St. Francis of Assisi
