Day 126c: To forgive all those Unkind … (September 02, 2019)
I chose to regularly remember that those who chose to be unkind to their fellow sentient cousins were the ones who were losing the most in their (lack of) living, and yet it was admittedly difficult to avoid feeling slightly repulsed by the same each time I encountered it nonetheless …
“A strong heart gives forgiveness while a weak one merely offers permission … In truth, you will know that real Forgiveness has entered tour life when you can recall those who have harmed you the most and can then embody the power to sincerely wish them well anyway … It is true that of all that we’re asked to give others in this life, the most difficult to offer is often forgiveness; that of all things we mortals are called upon to do, the most difficult to show is often mercy. And in order to truly offer the same, we must behave as if we have already forgiven the offender for quite a while before we have actually done so … And remember that sincere Forgiveness isn’t colored with expectations that the other person apologize or change or in any way accept or honor our offer of kindness. We are not to worry whether or not they one day understand you or acknowledge they harm they have indeed done. Love them fully and release them completely regardless. That alone is The Way.” ~ inspired by Santosh Kalwar, Lewis Smedes, William Krueger, Marion Zimmer Bradley & Sara Paddison
