Day 123g: A few things better forgotten … (August 30, 2019)

Ah, would that we could advance far enough as a species that there need be no more remembrances of our past evils & injustices – no more mention of bigotry or violence amongst individuals; no more mention of war between nations or cruelty between species …

When I visit the cemetery, I walk past hundreds, possibly thousands of stories now silenced. And I know that all our ‘recorded’ history also holds the adventures & lessons & wisdoms that our history ‘lost’ has long since let slip through its fingers. And so whenever I pass a cemetery, I remember that I need to live a life that is worthy of being ‘recorded’ – a life filled with acts of gentleness and sacrifice and integrity and love – so that the adventures of that noble living might help another to do the same; that neither of us need slip through the fingers of anything.” ~ via Craig Lounsbrough
