Day 113k: To know a greater Peace … (August 20, 2019)

The aforementioned bench just wasn’t cutting it that night, so I rose groggily and headed back out onto The Road – weaving in fatigue along the roadside for what seemed like mile after mile after mile; into and then through the town of Bensalem (where the still under-construction Waterside Community was unreceptive to any attempt at stealth camping) and then into and through Cornivelles Heights (where the bizarrely deserted Pen Ryn Estates proved equally uncomforting). And then I came to a bizarre sight that was somehow oddly appropriate for at-that-time-disjointed journey – a company by the roadside that was selling ice in the middle of the night on the honor system, accompanied by a stern warning that implied that recent dealings there had been less than honorable …

Underneath all that divides us, we share a common humanity. The rediscovery of the wondrous and the quest for Meaning-filled well-being motivate all of us. We all continually seek relief from the droning difficulties of existence, and in so doing, we strive to – and in effect actually do – change the world, sometimes in truth for the better. My vision is that humanity will one day learn to be at Peace with itself as we humans continue to learn to be peaceful with both each other and all our sentient cousins. Some folks think that this can happen only after people have their basic needs met, and yet it is actually while we each strive to meet those needs for our neighbors that our own greatest Peace will arrive.” ~ via Terry B.
