Gratitude Visits (February 14th) …

February 14Gratitude Visits: Take a few moments to list as many of the people you can remember who either inspired you, enabled your happiness &/or supported you during your childhood. Sometime today pay one of those people a surprise visit to relay your Gratitude in person (taking them small Gifts is optional). If a visit is impractical, call them instead.

One of the most in-Joy-able ways I have experienced of awakening my True Self is taking the time to express gratitude to the people who have supported my personal Journey through life.  My personal list of “childhood heroes” includes my dad (Fred), my mom (Suzanna), my brother (Todd), Saint Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther King Jr., Jimmy Carter, and Jesus Christ.

As far as the latter goes (in case you’re wondering), from a very early age I was inspired by Jesus, the all-loving selfless servant of humanity .

I was inspired by his reverence for children,

I was inspired by his courageous devotion to his Path,

and I was inspired by the Joy-fullness of his message.

For all these teachings, I continue to be grateful …

Of course, one of the deeper lessons provided by today’s task is the ability we all have to expand our “Circle of Gratitude” to include those “enemies” who have challenged us to become stronger — whose persecutions have given us opportunities to transcend the same with acts of kind forgiveness.

In this sense, I am just as thankful for the condemnations inflicted upon me in my youth by the conservative Christian church as I am for the unconditionally loving teachings of Jesus Christ.  The latter inspired me to become the caring man I a today, while the latter showed me clearly the type of man I did not want to become.

Something to think about for sure …

See You when I see you …

and until then, Be Now!
