Day 069m: Remaining sacred by keeping Silent … (June 22, 2019)
I bring in my dishware to say a final thank you before heading back to The Path, and pause involuntarily in amazement upon noticing a humongous basket of fresh bread along the restaurant’s back wall– realizing as I do so that it is often necessary to remain completely silent (i.e. refusing to even indirectly express one’s wishes, no matter how harmless or reasonable they might be – in this case my desire to humbly partake of even the smallest portion of such extravagant abundance) in order to truly walk the Sacred Way …
“I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a a moral stalwart among men.” ~ Lao Tzu
