Day 068b: ONE at the final Parting … (June 21, 2019)
Fellow pilgrims Maude & Nathalie come in to breakfast as I am finishing my preparations for departure, and they both sit for awhile and soak up my Walking HOME book. This was a nice moment indeed, as these were the two members of yesterday’s “pilgrim family” with whom I had felt most likely to Connect – Nathalie for being the connecting influence who had brought me to Le Par Chemin in the first place (it turns out that every single pilgrim there last night had in some way been “brought there” that evening by a past interaction with Nathalie), and Maude for being a woman who had dedicated her life to serving the downtrodden, and as such for being someone who could most readily benefit from the Wisdom of The Way that I have been called to offer … Neither of these Connections came to pass, of course (both of them were far more intent on offering their own truths and tellings, and I was more than willing during the majority of our time together to simply sit and humbly listen to the same), and yet I have faith that at least a portion of the Gifts I sent to them were in some way received during the time they sat with the Walk’s book.
“What greater thing is there for two human Souls than to feel that they are joined if but for a moment–to strengthen each other in their labors, to rest on each other in times of sorrow, to minister to each other in moments of trial, to become one with each other in a silent unspeakable memory formed at the moment of their final parting?” ~ via George Eliot
