Day 068a: A less than rude Awakening … (June 21, 2019)
Up after very little sleep last night (a combination of several vivacious late-night chats entertained by fellow pilgrims, some lovely less-than-quiet guitar strummings by hospitalero Remi, a subtle cacophony of rumbled snorings from already asleep pilgrims at the far end of the hostel, and a community cat who decided to wail his general displeasures well into the morn) and enjoy yet another wonderful pilgrims’ breakfast – first with Ole & then with Samuel, realizing smack dab in the middle thereof that I will indeed be walking onward today – and this, despite having been invited to stay longer by Frederic & Muriel, and despite as well feeling so wholeheartedly AT HOME with them here …
“The only choice truly worthwhile is a sacrifice given both selflessly & freely; the one done without hope or expectation of anything in return , and the one that actually costs oneself joy or comfort. It is the great union of Souls which occurs when something that is adored is offered to another in need or when an uncomfortable deed is done solely for the betterment of others seemingly unattached or apparently undeserving.” ~ inspired by Kayambila Mpulamasaka
