Day 065u: Declining the delicious with Discipline … (06/18/2019)
Due to the stalwart consequence I had recently displayed at the aforementioned donativo fruit stand, it didn’t take long for me to start to feel the internal buzzing of subtly gnawing hunger that typically accompanied my Walk. And it was around this very time that I rounded the next bend and came across a sight that was truly majestic to behold – rows upon rows upon rows of heavily laden fruit trees (mostly dripping with apricots & cherries) … :O
I will freely admit that it was sooooooooo tempting to sidle a few feet off the path and enjoy a few of those obviously succulent morsels, and yet I maintained my resolve to be true to my Walk; a Walk that allowed for no money & no asking others for sustenance, yes, and yet a Walk that also prohibited “foraging” for any found foodstuffs as well … 😉
“The really important kind of goodness involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort.. It requires being able truly to care about other people and to willingly sacrifice for them, over and over and over again, in a myriad simple little unsexy ways, and then do so every single day.” ~ via David Foster Wallace
