Day 065v: Intentionally losing The Way … (06/18/2019)
I thereafter wandered down into the town of Durfort-Lacapalette, where I had thought I would be able to spend the night. And yet the few townsfolk I met there made it quite clear in a variety of ways – some subtle (“There is no place for you here. Try across the street.”), and some not so much (“You don’t have any money? Then I am afraid you will not be staying here.”) … 🙁
It was getting pretty late in the day by the time I had reached this particular township (and I had already trudged well over 20 miles to get there), and so I seriously considered simply finding a bench somewhere and sleeping under the stars that evening. And yet another resident had overheard my tale and had mentioned a “Gite la Bayssade” that was a few miles up ahead, and so I decided to stumble onward towards the same …
And so it was on this still-quite-warm day that I walked on & on & on; up to where I myself found a sign indicating that “La Bayssade” was reachable by veering off The Way and into the left-handed landscape … Too tired at this point to effectively ponder or protest, I almost mindlessly took the turn towards my hoped for refuge and just kept walking – and walking – and walking – and walking … Where in the world was this place?!? :O
