Day 065t: Offering a far greater Fruit … (06/18/2019)
After giving Nathalie a warm farewell hug, I headed back out onto The Way, and it was only a few kilometers thereafter when I rounded another bend and saw this glorious sight – a table laden with fresh apricots and cherries*, along with a sign that essentially read “Dear pilgrims … Help yourself … Thank you, and pleasant journeys!” 😀
“The most true Generosity rests not in giving me that which I need more than you do, but rather in giving me that which you need more than I.” ~ via Kahlil Gibran
*P.S. A few things bear noting at this juncture – 01) that even though apricots & cherries were the two fruits that I did not at all enjoy before The Walk began, I certainly did come to enjoy them along The Way, and 02) that every time such gifts were offered, I always made sure to only take a few of the same, making sure that I never ate to the point of feeling full – consuming just enough of said sacred sustenance to honor the gift and its giving while exuding a conscious display of humility; that I would be given to again in the future by the kind folks up ahead, and that I could make it very very far solely “on faith” even if I encountered no one or received nothing at all.
