Day 58i: A most Homely Hostel … (06/11/2019)

It was almost midday when I came across this naturally-made, impromptu pilgrim’s hostel, so it obviously wasn’t for me. And yet I did stay long enough to appreciate the shelter it would have provided had the day been rainy, as well as the kind sentiment left behind by a pilgrim who had previously passed by … 😀

“If we are to one day have a society as resilient and competent in the face of necessity as it needs to be, then it must somehow involve within itself a ceremonious generosity toward the wilderness of natural forces and off-the-path enclaves. The hotel must yield a place to the forest, not as a wood lot, or even as a necessary economic principle but rather as a sacred Home – a place where we do not shelter from Creation, but rather become a willing participant in service to — and thereby indeed a champion of — the same.” ~ inspired by Wendell Berry
