Day 48m: Sharing the already Known … (06/01/2019)

On & on & on I walked through the bright-yet-cool morning, eventually arriving at what I thought was a wayside pilgrim’s hostel, but what actually tuned out to be the wayside home of Philippe & Laurence — a friendly French couple who invited me into the kitchen and offered me a fresh coffee and a glass of orange juice while I was lovingly assaulted by their gorgeous (both of coat and of heart) dog Oscar … 🙂

Neither of them spoke much English, and my French was only good enough at this point to get across the bare basics of my Peace Walk, and yet as soon as I had offered the same, Philippe insistently attempted to engage me in an obviously sophisticated discussion related to war and world peace and America’s place in all the same. Needless to say, despite my very best and overtly earnest efforts, I really couldn’t understand most of what he was saying. Laurence quickly realized the same, and quite amusingly kept interrupting her husband softly to state what was blatantly obvious to everyone (including Oscar) but him — “Philippe, he doesn’t understand a word you’re saying.” … 😀

No matter, as it was just as clear to each of us that we all meant well, that we all wanted a peaceful world, and — I believe — that we all would go forth and do what we each could to make the same a one-day reality … 😉
