Day 47k: On bending Nature’s bent … (05/31/2019)
Even though my hips had mostly recovered and my body was feeling mostly fit, obstacles like this one still gave me reasonable pause when encountered — and still provided me great joy once transcended … 😉
“It is important work to stem the workings of our ego’s inclination and turn our efforts towards slightly altering the bent of Nature instead, and yet that is what must be done. Indeed, God has given each & every one of us, in a measure, the power to influence and adjust our own fate — most often by setting aside personal fears & desires in favor of choices more charitably noble. And in those moments more difficult — when our energies seem to demand a sustenance they cannot attain, or when our will strains after a path we cannot follow, we need neither starve from inaction nor stand immobile in despair. Rather, when faced with obstacles greater or trials more daunting, we have but to seek another nourishment for the Soul by seeking another avenue for its summons. For even on the most treacherous of trails, one can always take another step forward, and even in the most meaningless of moments, there is always a being nearby in need of a gentle nudge of Kindness. Indeed, this is how we are to approach any wall that looms before us; this is how we hew out of the most adventurous trail a road as direct and broad as the one the Divine would have us tread.” ~ inspired by Charlotte Brontë
