Page 82 … hate-filled cherries

As this discussion alone has clearly evidenced (not to mention the millions of “progressive Christians” who agree with me, and the hundreds – if not the thousands – of Biblical scholars who happen to agree with me as well), there are a quite a few theological contradictions in the Bible – the most significant of which having to do with God Himself; namely – is He a god of hatred & condemnation & bigotry, or is He a God of Love & Mercy & Grace & Forgiveness?
My Friends, Lucy & Bart can quote all the Old Testament oracles and all the professions of Paul and all the ramblings of Revelation they want – they can quote them all to you and they can do so until the end of their days, and it won’t change the fact that another God exists within the pages of the Bible – their own Bible – your own Bible; a God that loves all of His creations; a God who forgives all of our trespasses; a God who understands and adheres to and indeed abides in the same “perfect LOVE” that was walked & talked by his own Son, Jesus Christ …

Essentially, all you Christians reading along have a very important choice to make:  You can either worship a callous & capricious God of hatred & intolerance (and possibly spend a very uncomfortable – if not downright creepy – eternity with Him in Heaven after you die), or you can “become again as a child” and adopt the humble, Kind, compassionate Love of Christ in your lives – by embracing the teachings of Jesus Christ, and extending them actively & humbly to everyone around you – to Democrats as well as Republicans; to Muslims as well as atheists;  to “thugs” as well as yuppies; to CEO’s as well as the homeless; to gays & transgenders & straight folks alike.  And it is thereby – and thereby alone – that you will then be able to walk hand-in-hand with Jesus into his Kingdom of Heaven (see Luke 17:20-21 + Matthew 10:7 et al).
