Page 106 … Living in a world of sin
Finally, you claim that, “We live in a world of sin, and we come in contact with people every day who do nothing but sin against God. That is their choice … We don’t condemn them; they condemn themselves” … And yet, my dear, if this were truly the case, then this particular conversation would never have taken place. Indeed, if this statement of yours were indeed true, then Bart would never have posted his original, underhandedly bigoted post about Oliver Clyde Allen in the first place!
And besides, seeing as how the Bible clearly grants you & yours both a far more Loving and a far less condemnatory alternative, your conscious choice to ignore the same (and instead openly champion the hard-line judgmental & callously bigoted position of evangelical fundamentalism) is in and of itself a personal condemnation of all those who do not meet your own private standards of “right” & “wrong”.
So I give great thanks that the perfectly Loving Father of Jesus Christ is a God who has a far different outlook on such matters – and I give great thanks that not only Jesus Christ, but also Paul (on occasion, and even some of the Old Testament authors as well) provide us with regular glimpses of that greater God’s far greater morality & far greater majesty!
“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast Love. The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made … On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples … And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever. Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the Earth.” ~ Psalms 145:8-9 + Isaiah 25:6-8
“I will not execute my fierce anger … For I am God and no mortal, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.” ~ Hosea 11:9
“So it is not the will of my Father in Heaven that even one of these little ones should be lost … And as such all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” ~ Matthew 18:14 + Luke 3:6
“Now He is God not of the dead, but of the living; and to Him all of them are alive … And I, once I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself … I do not judge anyone who hears my words and does not keep them; for I came not to judge the world, but to offer the world a Way to salvation.” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 20:38 + John 12:32 + John 12:47)
“Who are you to pass judgment on the servants of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they [all] will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand.” ~ Paul (Romans 14:4)
