Pages 438-439 … down on ALL sin
You thereafter note that, “the Bible is the final authority on sin and its consequences” and you go off on sin quite extensively thereafter – quoting Galatians 5:19-21 to somehow indirectly show that “sin is a disease, a great spiritual cancer.”
Fair enough, my Friend. If this truly is the case – if sin truly is a “spiritual cancer” as you say (and I would humbly offer that it indeed can be construed as such), then why are you yourself denying what the Bible itself says about sin and its consequences?
*Whatever happened to us reaping only what we sow, my Friend (see Jeremiah 17:10, Luke 6:38, Galatians 6:7-8, Revelation 20:12-13)?
*And whatever happened to God being the embodiment of perfect LOVE (see Matthew 5:48), and perfect LOVE having not even the slightest blemish of either fear or punishment (see 1 John 4:18)?
*And whatever happened to being merciful as the Father is merciful (Luke 6:37) and forgiving others endlessly, just as He endlessly forgives (Matthew 18:21-22)?
*And whatever happened to you & yours not being allowed entry into Jesus’ Kingdom due to your flagrant lack of humility while simultaneously openly judging homosexuals to be “mortal sinners” (Matthew 7:1-5 + Matthew 18:3-4)?
*And whatever happened to you & yours cleaning your own cups of your own adultery (and your own hatred, and your own envy, and your own contentiousness, and your own jealousies, and your own outbursts of wrath, and your own selfish ambitions, and your own heresies etc etc etc – see Galatians 5:19-21) before you take to trying to clean the cups of others (Matthew 23:25-26)?
Whatever happened to those verses, my dear Friend? Why are they not important to you & yours, whereas Leviticus 18:22 & Leviticus 20:13 are?
P.S. And whatever happened to the FACT that homosexuality itself – at least according to the Bible – IS NOT EVEN A SIN?!?
And if you are suddenly so down on “all sin”, Lucy, why have you still not posted about straight-couple adultery (Leviticus 20:10-12), or straight couples fantasizing about someone other than their spouse (Matthew 5:27-28), or about straight couples having sex during the woman’s menstruation (Leviticus 20:18), or about straight men coveting their neighbors’ wives (Exodus 20:17)? It wouldn’t solve the hypocrisy of your pot calling others’ kettles black, of course, and yet doing so would at least begin to diminish the bigotry with which you are still blasting homosexuals … Yes, it is true that Jesus told Nicodemus that we all must become “born anew” in order to enter his Kingdom (see John 3:3 + Luke 17:20-21), AND once again you seem to have fully ignored the simple Truth that the word “repent” in the Bible was actually the Greek word metanoeo – a word that meant not merely professing or thinking differently, but rather changing one’s entire outlook; altering one’s entire life; completely refocusing the way one deals with others (in your case, homosexuals). You seem to have once again fully forgotten that, for Jesus at least; “repentance” was a verb, and that “repentance” was nothing unless it was founded in non-judgmental acts of Love & Kindness. My dear Friend, this is the only way to truly “become baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the repentance of sins” (Acts 2:38) … Indeed, this is the only way to walk The Way!
In closing then, it is not I who has been distorting the Word of God, Lucy. Indeed, just the opposite is true – I have been striving mightily in this thread to clarify it; to present the Word of God in its most divine Light – a Light that cannot shine its true brilliance until all man-made, hate-inspired, intolerance-riddled & fear-filled dogma has been polished from the raw Glory that is still living safe & sound within the Scriptures, even to this very day …
I have been radically living The Way of Jesus Christ for the past decade+ of my life, my Friend, and The Way of Jesus Christ is what I have been sharing with you and yours in this thread. Does this make me “born again” according to Paul? No, it does not … And yet it most certainly does make be Born Again (& again & again & again & again) according to Jesus Christ – according to his teachings, and according to his Life, and according to his Truth, and according to his Way … I realize that this fact is not very important to you & yours and the way you have all chosen to read the Bible, and I accept your opposing beliefs fully & humbly … That having been said, I have faith you will forgive me for siding with Jesus on these matters instead of those who have clearly taught you differently …
As always, much Peace & Love I send to you, my Friend.
