Page 546 … Recognizing sin

“Why can’t you accept that homosexual sex is sin in the eyes of God?”

Well my dear, actually, I do accept the fact that Leviticus calls out homosexual sex and labels it a sin – along with about 75 other sins.  And this is where you & yours continue to be confused, for this thread is not about homosexual sex!!!  This thread is about whether or not you (or Bart, or Dan, or Diana, or anyone else) would ever go and hear an openly gay preacher – an openly gay preacher not engaged in homosexual sex – share the Word of God on Sundays.  Each of you has publicly stated that you would not do so because Oliver Clyde Allen – the subject of this discussion – is openly gay; not because he is engagaing in homosexual sex (he is merely holding hands with his husband in this thread’s initial picture), but simply because he is openly gay.  Now, if Bart had opened this thread by asking whether or not we would ever go and watch an openly gay minister have homosexual sex during his sermon, well that would be a different discussion entirely.  But that is not what we are discussing here!

To be fair, I have been asking you all to give me even a single verse that states that homosexuality itself (what you non-affectionately call “the gay lifestyle”) is a sin, and you have still not been able to do so.  And not only have you, Lucy, not provided us with a verse proving the same, you have actually admitted yourself on two separate occasions that being gay is indeed itself not a sin … Do you remember doing so?  Do you remember on June 16th @ 2:21pm (see page 118 herein) when you said “No one said that being gay is a sin. The sexual act is”?   Or how about on June 17th @2:41pm (see page 122 herein) when you said “Fine Scaughdt, if [gays] are not partaking of the sexual act then they have done nothing wrong”?  … Have you changed your mind since then, Lucy?   And if so, will you please tell us all what verses from the Bible you are using to justify that (literal) change of heart?  And if you have not changed your mind, will you please explain again why it is not blatantly bigoted of you & yours to refuse to hear Oliver Clyde Allen preach just because he is gay?

P.S.  Of course, the real question we need to be asking ourselves is this one:  Since you are a supposed believer in Jesus Christ, and since you supposedly worship him as your personal Lord & Savior, why can’t you simply do what he asks you to do – and keep your mouth closed whenever you are tempted to publicly (or even privately) condemn the sins of others?

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … You judge by human standards; I JUDGE NO ONE … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young is the greatest in the Kingdom … All who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted … You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also then become truly clean … Let [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-5, John 8:15, Matthew 18:3-4, Luke 18:14, Matthew 23:25-26 & John 8:7)
