Page 545 … 3 out of 4 Gospels
“Three of the four gospels contain quotes from Jesus about the sinful condition of Sodom and Gomorrah and the destruction that the celebration of the presenting sin of homosexuality wrought upon them.”
(sigh) … Lucy, as I have mentioned to you & yours before so many times, this particular claim – like so many of your claims – is biblically INACCURATE. Please consider the following Facts regarding the passages you infer:
*Fact: Luke 17:26-30 actually has Jesus very clearly noting that the fall of Sodom & Gomorrah came about due to rampant manifestations of selfish greed & systemic gluttony, not because of the presence of homosexuality or manifestations of homosexual lust. And this fact harmonizes perfectly with Ezekiel 16:49, a verse that cites the callous rejection of the needs of the poor & the downtrodden as the reason for Sodom & Gommorah’s destruction.
*Fact: Neither Matthew 10:15 nor Matthew 11:24 make any mention whatsoever as to specifically why Sodom & Gomorrah were destroyed.
*Fact: Mark 6:11 doesn’t even mention Sodom & Gomorrah at all!
At this point you begin to sum up your point by stating, “[Thus] Jesus did speak rather forthrightly, and often, about the sin of homosexuality and the judgment that it brings upon societies that celebrate it.”
What an odd statement, my Friend, considering that Jesus never spoke directly about homosexuality at all – not one single time – in the entire Bible! And this claim of yours sounds even more bizarre when juxtaposed against the only time in the entire Bible when Jesus even indirectly (and very gently, and fully non-condemnatorily, I might add) actually did speak about homosexuals – namely, in Matthew 19:12 … And your claim moves from the puzzling to the outright unbelievable when we see Jesus actually blessing a homosexual man (by healing his pais – the Greek word used to describe a younger, same-sex partner) in the only instance such an encounter is ever mentioned in the Scriptures (see Matthew 8:5-13).
