Page 835 … trusting the Bible

“The Bible can be trusted” … Yes it can, my Friend (at least to the degree that its interpretations harmonize with current biblical scholarship, and at least to the degree that those interpretations bear Good Fruit when tested) … So Lucy, since you feel it can be trusted, why aren’t you trusting it by heeding its calls?  Indeed, why are you outright ignoring so many of its words – especially in your public dealings with homosexuals & in your open discussions about homosexuality?
Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees. You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven … All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted … Let [she] without any sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2, Matthew 23:25-26, Matthew18:3-4, Matthew 23:12 & John 8:7)
Thereafter, quite importantly, you state that, “Christians admit that they’re sinners … We’re no better than anyone [else].”

Exactly, my dear!  So it then goes without saying that you & yours should stop openly criticizing or even calling out the sins of others, right?

And yet even though such wisdom should be so obvious that it goes without saying, Jesus says so anyway!  If you won’t consider my words, please consider his:

“Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:3-5)
