Page 842 … shining The Light
“We all need the light of truth shined into our darkness. Jesus said, ‘I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.’ (John 12:46)”
This is quite so, my Friend; Jesus did say this in the Gospels … and please note, my dear Friend, that Jesus did NOT say that we are to shine our light on others by casting negative, arrogant, prejudicial & hypocritical shadows upon them. In fact, he said just the opposite!
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to identify the speck in your neighbor’s … Let [she] without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-5 + John 8:7)
“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 7:24 … see also John 14:20!)
“A new commandment I give to you: that you Love one another. Just as I have Loved, so you also are to Love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples: when you show Love for one another … Be perfect [in LOVE] therefore, just as [the LOVE] of your Father in Heaven is perfect … There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment and whoever fears has not reached perfection in Love … Show mercy to others, just as your heavenly Father shows them mercy.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 13:34-35 + Matthew 5:48 + 1 John 4:18 + Luke 6.36)
“Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do … Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me … Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these, you also did it for me … For I have set you an example, that you also should DO as I have done to you … If you understand these things, you are blessed while you DO them.” ~ Jesus (John 14:12 + Matthew 25:34-40 + John 13:15-17)
