Page 932 … Being still vs. Knowing God
“The Holy Spirit will have to guide us in those endeavors …
Let us all be still and know that He is God.”
Actually, my dear Friend, the Holy Spirit is not only guiding us in every moment of our lives, it is pretty much saying exactly the same thing every time it does so. You see, the Holy Spirit is the essence of the Divine – an essence that, according to Jesus himself – is 100% composed of perfect, unadulterated, unconditional LOVE (see Matthew 5:48 + 1 John 4:8). And, because neither fear nor anger (which is nothing more than a crystallized form of fear) nor punishment nor judgment (which is nothing more than a subtle form of punishment) can reside therein (as is quite clearly stated in 1 John 4:18), it makes perfect sense that the Holy Spirit is constantly telling us all the only thing it can tell us – namely, “Get out there and Love someone”; … namely, “Be Kind to that stranger”; … namely, “Embrace your enemies with forgiveness”; … namely, “Turn the other cheek”; … and namely, “Share your last two pennies” – and “Carry his/her burdens the second mile” – and “Give them your cloak as well!”
So, my Friend, we really don’t need to be still to know what the Holy Spirit wants us to do. In fact, we can actually be quite certain that the one time we are most certainly not doing what it wants is when we are not moving towards others with Love!
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees it nor knows it. You know it, because it abides with you, and it will remain within you … And on that day you will know that I am in my Father, and that you are in me, and that I am in you … I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit – whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 14:16-26)
