Page 931 … Fighting the Good Fight

“The truth is that there is spiritual warfare all around us and we are all involved in it.”

I guess I can agree with this statement – depending on what you mean by “spiritual warfare”, of course.  Personally, each and every one of us fights an internal, spiritual “war” in every moment of our lives – a “battle” between the forces of the ego that would have us strive for personal pleasure (while condemning the sins of others) and the Power of the Soul – the child of God within us (see John 14:20-26) that only wants us to serve those in need, to be Kind to strangers, and to bring peace to the discord around us …

But something tells me that this is not exactly what you mean.

If by “spiritual warfare” you mean that there are angels and demons literally swirling all around us literally fighting with each other, then all I can say is A) that there is no tangible biblical support for such a belief, … B) that the heavenly Father of Jesus is a God of perfect Love – and as such a God whose Love that is extended to every entity in the Universe; including the demons you fear (for they obviously need said Love the most), … and C) that such a theory – even if it is true – has no bearing whatsoever on the way Jesus says you are to treat homosexuals; namely, with Kindness  & Love (see Matthew 5:43-48 + John 13:34-35) and without judgment (see Matthew 23:12 + Matthew 7:1-2)!    Indeed, my Friend, to do anything less is to actually entrench the fear & anger that make “the forces of darkness” stronger.  Indeed, to do anything less is actually to become an unwitting agent of Satan himself (should he actually exist)!

“If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand? … Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is Love … You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe – and shudder.” ~ Matthew 12:26 & 1 John 4:8 & James 2:19
