Page 980 … James the Just & “Embracing the world”

“James warns us of the danger of embracing the world as well when he writes,  ‘You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God’ (James 4:4)”  …

Again, fair enough … And yet just who among us has chosen to be a “friend of the world”, my dear?   Does this verse accurately describe Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen – an ordained minister of God and (at least as far as you know) a sin-free & faithfully, happily married man?  I think not – certainly not in the context of the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels!

No, my dear Friend, if anyone here has truly developed a “friendship with the world” it is you & yours – you & yours, who have arrogantly proclaimed from the very beginning of this conversation that you and you alone possess the proper interpretation of the Scriptures; … you & yours, who have hypocrticially taken to calling out and critcizing the supposed sins of Oliver Clyde Allen while simultaneously & similarly sinning yourselves; … you & yours, who have made it quite clear that you believe that homosexuality itself is an especially “mortal sin”, that it is therefore appropriate for you to publicly label all homosexuals as “mortal sinners”, and that all homosexuals are thereby worthy of eternal torment in Hell!

Ironically, my Friend, it is these proclamations of yours that are the true “abominations” (see Proverbs 6:16-19 & Proverbs 16:5) and it is they that show quite clearly that it is you & yours who have developed & nurtured a “friendship with the world.” (see also Luke 16:15)

P.S. By the way – do you know what else James says in the Bible, Lucy?  THIS:

“There is only one lawgiver and only one judge who is able to save and to destroy.
So who, then, are you to judge your neighbor?” ~ James 4:12
