Page 978 … The Holy Spirit & “instant conviction”

“The Holy Spirit convicts me instantly [whenever I sin] and lets me know the need to STOP and TURN from it. That is what we are supposed to do — NOT make excuses for the sin we want to continue in.”

Lucy, as I have explained quite thoroughly over the last several pages (and indeed regularly throughout this entire conversation), you yourself are making excuses for your arrogance, and for your bigotry, and for your hypocrisy even now!

And I have faith that you realize as well that you are actually not at all speaking accurately about your relationship with the Holy Spirit.   For if it were true that the Holy Spirit would convict you instantly whenever you sin, then this entire thread would never have taken place – for if that were true, then the Holy Spirit would have convicted you instantly when you arrogantly judged your own personal interpretation of the Scriptures as being the only acceptable interpretation thereof (see Proverbs 6:16, Proverbs 16:5 & Matthew 18:3-4) …

and the Holy Spirit would have convicted you instantly every time you callously discriminated against homosexual pastors while fully ignoring the equally “abominable” sins of all heterosexual pastors & straight reverends (a.k.a. bigotry — see Matthew 7:1-2, John 7:24, Matthew 5:44-48 & John 13:34-35) …

and the Holy Spirit  would have convicted you instantly as soon as you hypocritically criticized the supposed sins of Oliver Clyde Allen while simultaneuously committing sins of your own! (see Matthew 7:3-5, Matthew 23:23-26 & John 8:7) …

And yet the Holy Spirit obviously did NOT convict you of your sins instantly, my dear – either that, or it did do so, and you simply chose to ignore its conviction.
