Day 140c: Homeward unbound … (September 16, 2019)

And then I walked onward into that fresh new morning, and soon crossed my Walk’s final state border, and entered the lauded realm of Tennessee … 🙂

Bliss – true contentment, that elusive & perfect blend Joy & Peace – comes not via one’s mere contemplation of an accomplished result, or the exultant emotion of an actual victory, or even the satisfaction of knowing true & real success. No, real bliss comes to those who have made their lives about something far grander than their own aims or desires; comes to those who exude their time & energy far more deftly. Bliss is a free affirmation of why we are all here. It is more a verb than a feeling – more action than emotion. It is executing kindness with ease and generosity with gusto and self-sacrifice with fluidity. It is the joy one knows when thoughts become learnings that meld into more noble intentions. It is the exuberance that radiates from the one who has humbly sought and then boldly found how to truly care. And when one happens to be walking while serving – when one chooses to walk as the pilgrim walks and live as the pilgrim lives – then one is regularly awash in this bliss; then one’s walking becomes life’s fundament; one’s basso continuo. Locally, of course, you may run into effort and difficulty along the way – it is practically an inevitability that you will. And yet as long as you pause to remember why it is that you are moving, then you will also know an immediate sense of deep contentment – even in those times of turmoil or trouble; indeed, quite especially therein.” ~ inspired by Frédéric Gros
