Day 138h: To cherish the days Unlovable … (September 14, 2019)
And onward I steadily trudged – through the rising heat of the surprisingly searing afternoon – all the way to and through the hamlet of Seven Mile Ford …
“To the pilgrim, the inconceivable becomes one’s path, and the seemingly impossible, one’s wheel and wings … Asceticism doesn’t rest in one’s mere words or lifestyle. For he is an ascetic who has the humble wherewithal to treat everyone alike. Similarly, asceticism doesn’t lie in visiting honored burial places or engaging sacred rituals or bathing in holy springs. No, asceticism simply means to remain pure amidst impurities; to remain calm despite the storm; to remain loving despite the fear; to remain resolved despite the difficulty … For the ego, time heals all wounds. It does so by choosing to forget. And yet for the Soul, the painful losses of life are ever renewed. And yet even though they remain fresh and present – reborn in every angst-riddled encounter or pain-inducing difficulty, there is no suffering for the Soul. For the Soul is only concerned with loving – never being loved; only desirous of serving – never being served; only yearning for meaning – never pleasure or comfort. And the Soul ever remembers that it is the times of want & dis-ease that make love pure and service potent and meaning possible. And so its moments of imperfection are cherished, as the empowering sustenance they are.” ~ inspired by Mecha Constantine & Nanak
