Day 138e: Even under clearer Skies … (September 14, 2019)

I remember well passing by this wide-open little roadside “home” (it was only a glorified storage shed, and yet it even had a tiny front porch) and thinking what a wonderful find it would have been had the day been night and the clear skies been pouring rain. And yet I wasn’t in need of any such shelter at the time, so I left it behind and walked onward; thankful that it had been offered me nonetheless, and hopeful that any & all other pilgrims might well stumble across it or a similar haven in their own times of darkness or distress …

Our houses are such unwieldy property – so often seen as possessions to be protected, rather than safe havens to be shared – that we are often imprisoned by them rather than housed within them … So avoid letting the wind & the cold drive you to the wrong shelter. Just as shade can both protect from heat and inhibit a plant’s growth, sometimes braving the rain can be the perfect protector from the gale … Everyone is in need of a shelter from the storm, my friends. Be that shelter; Be Kind.” ~ inspired by Henry David Thoreau, Michael B. Johnson & Luffina Lourduraj
