Day 135c: Onward to the horizon; upward towards the Heavens … (September 11, 2019)

Adventures befall the unadventurous just as readily, if not as frequently, as the bold. For adventures are a logical and reliable result of living life as a sentient being – beings who encounter adversity while venturing forth from home (or trying to return to the same) for any number of reasons or necessities. All adventures happen in that damned and magical space, wherever it may be found or chanced upon, which least resembles one’s safest haven. And indeed, as soon as you have crossed the county line, or even your own doorstep, and ventured into that place where the safeties and the structures and the regulations and the conventions of your life and upbringing no longer fully apply, where the support and approval of your family or friends or neighbors are no longer as deeply felt: then you too have entered into Adventure — a place of sorrow, fear and desire and regret, yes. And yet also a place rife with the transcendences of love and kindness and wonderment and community … This is why both our biggest fears and our greatest gifts live most fully in the great Out There. This is why we must ever set forth into the unknown. This is why we all, at our deepest level, both cherish and revere both Adventure and the adventurous.” ~ inspired by Michael Chabon & Joshua Lynott
