Day 133h: Finalizing a new Fanclub … (September 09, 2019)
Into the initial outskirts of Roanoke I ambled, and stopped briefly for some water in Papa D’s restaurant & bar. There was a small gathering of regulars on hand that early afternoon, and to my delighted surprise, they were to a man (and woman) all fully enamored by – and openly supportive of – my Walk; so much so that they engaged me in quite an in-depth and lively conversation about the same, and so much so that barkeep Trena made me a delicious veggie sandwich to eat while we all jovially conversed …

“Imagine what our real neighbors would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word &/or caring deed to another person every day. There have been so many stories about the lack of courtesy, the underlying sense of impatience of today’s world – the road rage and the postal rage and even the restaurant rage. And so many times, all it takes to ease the angst that underlies it all is one small kind word to nourish another person – one short wink or one kind smile or one silent deed of kindness. Just think of the ripple effect that would be created it just a few of us were to nourish others in this way.
