Day 133g: Honored in the halls of Hollins … (September 09, 2019)

I eventually made it to the campus of Hollins University and its lovely campus and delightful library, where the library staff heard about my Walk and – with great kindness and no hesitation – told me that I could use their computers and remain there to rest for as long as I wished …

The saddest aspect of humanity’s current state is that science is gathering knowledge & know-how far faster than society is gathering the understanding needed to use the same wisely … With this in mind, remember that whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority these days (or any days when the society in which you live is more concerned with justifications than justice), it is time to reform the same … Indeed, it is the mark of a truly educated mind to be able to calmly entertain a thought or argument – to test its merits smoothly & objectively without either blindly accepting it or rejecting it offhand … It has been said that knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom, and yet what is less well understood is that Caring for others is the end of the same … So never let your sense of morals or current understanding of ‘truth’ prevent you from doing what is Right & Caring & Good … In this sense, the greater Secret of Life is to be rejected (or ridiculed or dismissed or denigrated) eight times and yet ever rise up a ninth time to Care.” ~ inspired by Isaac Asimov, Mark Twain, Aristotle, Albert Einstein & Paulo Coelho
