Day 132a: Back to the back to the back to the Road … (September 08, 2019)
“Mere traveling, he realized, was like a slow dismemberment of the body. It plucked the heart out of every journeyer and split it into pieces, leaving a bit of itself behind wherever he happened to go. As such the mere traveler ever became fractured thereby – homesick and fatigued and frustrated. And even after he returned home safely from his exhausting adventures, he had left small-but-significant portions of himself behind, and would never be fully whole again. Of course, the pilgrim experiences the exact opposite. His walking becomes so complete a letting go of smaller self that his Soul becomes fully unified with every place he sees and every being he meets along the way. The pilgrim journeys forth in such a pure way – selfless and humble and be-wondered and kind – that his heart is dramatically expanded thereby. His pilgrimage makes the entire world his Home and every single earthling a beloved member of his one and only planet-wide Family. As such he returns home far fuller than before – nothing at all is left behind, because his world has become one huge Here.” ~ inspired by Rhian Martin
