Day 130n: That something that Happened … (September 06, 2019)

I wasn’t really “feeling it” under the aforementioned picnic table pavilion, and there really was no other readily available space that would allow me to get any vestige of sound sleep, so the easy decision was made to walk ever onward, into the now fully setting Sun …

The purpose of a any real pilgrimage is about setting aside a long period of time in which the only focus can be the matters of the Soul – how the ego deals with It and how It then deals with others. Many believe incorrectly that a pilgrimage is about ‘going away’ or ‘having an adventure’ or ‘attaining enlightenment’ and yet it really isn’t about any of those things at all. Pilgrimage in its deepest essence is abut coming Home – it’s about returning to the kinder, grander person you were in your early youth – its about remembering how it feels to just Be Good to others for sheer Goodness’ sake – it’s about realizing that we – all of us, regardless of race or gender or creed or species – are truly all members of one big potentially super-happy Family. Many errantly believe that we must go away from all that is familiar if we are to ever focus on our inner well-being because we feel it is the only way to escape all that drains and distracts us, allowing us to turn inward and tend to what ails us. And yet this mentality assures that your walk will ultimately be wasted. For as long as we are seeking for our own benefit, we cannot be walking to benefit others. And as along as we refuse to walk for the benefit of others, our Souls will never be allowed to reawaken. In truth, we do not need to go to the edges of the earth to rediscover who we are. We only need to arrive at the edges of ourselves … And when we choose to walk this way with this higher purpose, something happens. Something wonderful happens when we go out into the world in this way, something that changes us. It’s the re-connection of being at One – with yourself, yes, and far more importantly, with this world and everyone in it.” ~ inspired by L. M. Browning & Jellis Vaes
