Day 127e: When the walking’s Done Right … (September 03, 2019)
“Walking – when it’s done right – causes absorption. Walking interminably, taking in through your pores the height of the mountains when you are confronting them at length, breathing in the shape of the hills for hours at a time during any slow descent, soaking in the swaying trees and the dazzling sunshine and even the thick smell of the cooking roadway. When walking in this manner – when walking as ONE with it all – the body becomes steeped in the earth upon which it treads. It stops being in the landscape and becomes the landscape instead. This doesn’t have to mean a dissolution of self, as if the walker to fade away to become a small inflection, a mere footnote. No, it’s more the opposite; it’s more the walker becoming the grandeur that surrounds him; it’s more the walker flowing through the glow that comes from the center of everything nearby – adding her own radiance thereto and dancing smoothly therewith. The moments become slow and full, as if time & space have melded into a singularity – as if if living itself has started shining. And here, awareness overflows with simple clarity; the easy knowing of the underlying vibration that joins all presences and hums a unifying note beneath their varied symphonies. Eternity, here, in a spark of Oneness. Eternity, here, moving through the All … And then, drifting unhurriedly across the vastness of local space, silent except for the wind and his or her own footsteps, the walker is finally free – wholly uncluttered from confusion and fully unfettered from fear … So it is almost every time I travel these days – whether out on The Road on pilgrimage or simply getting up to make a cup of tea. I feel like the Universe itself is reaching out to embrace me – like it is re-liberating a previously lost piece of my Soul.” ~ inspired by Frédéric Gros, Rebecca Solnit & M. B. Mohan
