Day 122e: One additional Instant … (August 29, 2019)

And then it was that I spotted my second dazed butterfly along the roadway – and then it was that I gently saved him from further harm by setting him down well away from oncoming traffic. I don’t know how much longer he made it, of course, and yet I do know that that one single moment of Kindness – at least for one additional instant – saved us both anew …

One of the worst things you can do is put supposed kindness out into the world while expecting to get it back. For this isn’t real kindness at all. This is some sort of business deal – some sort of manipulation – some sort of vain personal investment. In truth, real Kindness isn’t meant to be reciprocated at all. It’s a gift that is limitless and fully unconditional. It is a gift given solely for the sake of the other – solely for the sake of giving it. In truth, those who refuse to return kindness for a kindness are those who need that original kindness the most, and as such it is the giving of it without hope or expectation that is itself the giver’s greatest reward … Kindness means treating another person as a part of your closest tribe even when they don’t see themselves that way or in any way act accordingly.” ~ inspired by Daryl banner & Elamin Abdelmahmoud
