Day 121f: An abandoned Place of Peace … (August 28, 2019)

I then continued onward along Old Court Road, with the walking remaining extremely sketchy, what with the extremely thin (non-existent, really) shoulders and the very high velocity of through traffic. I found myself thinking that it would have been far safer (and probably more Productive to the Cause) to walk through the slums of Baltimore & Washington DC than to hobble along like this playing Frogger with oncoming cars, when I noticed a sign for a Buddhist Meditation Center* and I gladly veered up its driveway and into its compound grounds. Interestingly enough, not a single soul was present on that day at that time, and yet I was thankful for the reprieve the place offered from the road all the same …

*It turns out that Ashin Kelatha Vihara refers to a tract of Buddhism stemming from the nation of Myanmar (previously known as Burma), located in Southeast Asia (between Bangladesh & Thailand).

A human being is a spatially and temporally limited piece of the whole of what many call the Universe. He experiences himself and his feelings as separated from the rest, which is nothing but an illusion projected by his consciousness. The quest for liberation from the shackles of this delusion is the sole object of any real religion … With this (ironically) in mind, my Heavenly Children, come to the gentle realization that the stories you have concocted in God’s name have ‘angered’ the Cosmos; for the Universal Whole – an ever-whirling time & space continuum that is constantly seeking a state of perfect harmony – would never instigate war between brothers, or encourage tribes to harbor resentment towards one another, or allow one particular species to enslave or subjugate or slaughter another for any reason. In truth the Cosmos always prefers the man who loves over the one who hates, and the man who spreads kindness, peace and knowledge, over the one who spreads lies, fear and terror … So know that there is no real religion without Love, and that people may talk as much as they like about their particular creed or faith, and yet if the same does not inspire them to Be Good and Caring and Kind to both man and beast alike, that religion remains nothing but a celestial scam.” ~ inspired by Albert Einstein, Suzy Kassem & Anna Sewell
