Day 117j: Funny despite fatigue … (August 24, 2019)

You know you’re doing well as a pilgrim when you are in pain and feel exhausted and are even suffering from a mild case of “I just crossed the Conowingo Dam on foot” PTSD and you can still find humor in encountered road-signs …

The ego ever champions the old adage that we should never put off until tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well … It’s all about fear with the ego. Of course it claims to not be afraid of death, and yet makes it just as clear that it doesn’t want to be there when it arrives … Isn’t it interesting that whenever we encounter a fearful situation in the service of others, that ‘What the hell’ is almost always the right thought to entertain and almost always leads to a Right Decision being made? … Life is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who keep bringing you things you never asked for and often don’t like. The trick is to either humbly accept these gifts and steadily sample them anyway, or ask for the check & a doggie bag, and look for someone nearby who hungers.” ~ inspired by Mark Twain, Woody Allen, Terry Johnson & Lemony Snicket
