Day 117b: Thumping along the Thoroughfare … (August 24, 2019)

And then I finally made it to Red Toad Road, which proved to be probably the most-amusingly-named roadway of my entire pilgrimage …

A journey as something that life itself constantly calls me to take, whereas a pilgrimage is something I myself choose to engage to honor that living. And while fear & hardship are most certainly parts and parcels of both, a mere journey is hampered by fear while a true pilgrimage transcends the same; surrendering as it does to the inevitability of – and thereafter intentionally persisting through – any & all hardship … Every hour, every day, year in, year out, the wanderer must struggle to be a human, struggle for his right to be pure and kind and decent and just. He must do this with humility. And if it came to it, he mustn’t be afraid even of death itself; even then he must remain true to his truest cause – even then he must remain a true Human Being.” ~ inspired by Craig Lounsbrough & Vasily Grossman
