Day 113d: The loyalty of Dogs & Men … (August 20, 2019)

I made it off the roadway in what turned out to be the far outskirts of Morrisville, and had resolved to enter the very first establishment that crossed my path for some water and arest – an establishment that happened to be Four Paws Doggie Daycare; an establishment staffed by uber-nice employee Lori and super-kind owner Bob – both of whom were astounded by The Walk, and the latter of whom ended up giving me his very own bag of breakfast bagels to take with me on The Road* …

The mountain road is hard to travel, with the Sun now slanting down. I stop in a misty village, and a crow lands on a dusty tree nearby. There is no doubt that I’ll not arrive before night falls, and yet this does not concern me, for once I’ve drunk three warm cups with my way’s next strangers, I’ll feel as if at Home.” ~ via Bai Juyi

*I never actually took such gifts with me on my travels, always eating what I comfortably could immediately after parting ways with their giver and jettisoning the rest into the bushes that bordered my ensuing way.
