Day 108g: Memorializing a Myth … (August 15, 2019)
It seemed only fitting that I would make my way to the September 11th Memorial before officially heading northwards. After all, I was walking in selfless love & on pure faith for World Peace, so it only made sense that I pause along that path at a memorial not only famously soaked in hatred & fear, but one dedicated (not so subtly) to the furtherance of the very same patriotism that guarantees war …
“As long as humankind shall continue to bestow more liberal applause on their destroyers than their benefactors, the thirst for military glory will ever be the vice of society’s most exalted members, and war will ever be used to lead the masses astray … Until every single wink & stride of imperialism, nationalism and fundamentalism is directly confronted by the volcanic Heart of Peace that lives within every civilian, there will be no peace.” ~ inspired by Edward Gibbon
