Day 073x: A most Grace-full Giving … (June 26, 2019)
Even though I had already found a temporary Residence for the night, it was still early enough to flow a bit through the neighboring sections of town to see what I could See. And very soon thereafter I walked up to the local Maison des Pelerins, where Nadine – the hospitalera on call that night – immediately broke all protocol by offering me a private room in the mostly public hostel (!!!); telling me to take a long shower and take it easy until things settled down for the night (it turns out that she would have gotten into a bit of trouble for letting a pilgrim sleep there without obtaining his or her ID &/or hostel fee). I took the aforementioned shower and did as she asked and “hid out” in my cozy room until all the other pilgrims were checked in for the night. Then she came and got me, showed me the kitchenette, and pointed out the pasta and bread that yesterdays’ pilgrims had left behind. Then she effusively thanked me (“just for Being You”) and left me to enjoy a Peace-filled dinner …

“Peace and Joy belong not to the woman who finds her proper or better vocation, but rather to the woman who finds God in any vocation – the woman who looks for the Divine around every corner and sees the Divine in every Soul.” ~ via Rachel H. Evans
