Day 073f: When the Giving becomes the Bread … (June 26, 2019)

I paused briefly in the small church at Louvigny – to soak there in solace, yes, and yet also to sit and make a Peace Stone for Stephane; a gift he received humbly and with great warmth after arriving there a short time thereafter …

To those of us who understand that all sentient life is sacred, every crumb of bread and every sip of wine becomes in truth a Eucharist; a remembrance, a call to awareness of the sacredness that fills up right where we always are. And so it is that I want all of the holiness of the Eucharist to spill out beyond church walls and overflow the regular streets and sidewalks; for it to spill liberally into the hands of every single regular, normal, grubby person – human and animal alike. I want it to turn our tables into altars, turn our dining rooms into churches, and turn our paths into pilgrimages.” ~ inspired by Shauna Niequist
