Day 072n: The solace in every Sanctuary … (June 25, 2019)
While there is indeed a deep Solace that can be found in every Sanctuary, the sacredness of some places is more readily accessible than most. Such was the case within the cozy confines of the radiantingly holy church in the small town of Sensacq …
“While holiness might be more readily seen within the enclaves of church or cloister, it is critical for the pilgrim to remember that such sacredness means nothing if merely felt or noticed. For real vocation must be of Love, and Love – real Love; tangible Love; active Love – belongs to this world, not to its celestial cousin. As such, for the sacred to become real, it must be directed actively toward one’s neighbor, not mentally or verbally toward God. And this is a critically important preliminary characteristic of reverence; that immersed in true vocation one is not reaching up to God, but rather bending oneself down toward those in need – not praying to a mighty overlord residing far above, but rather reaching to care for those smallest and nearest by. .When one does that – when one remembers to live in such a way and with such a Love, then God’s creative work is carried onward. For God’s work of Love takes form on earth, and that which is external witnesses to the same. So if we humble ourselves and note properly how much good God has bestowed upon us, both through His direct creation and through all His created orders, we shall know not only that His compassion is limitless towards us, but that our Compassion towards others must be equally so.” ~ inspired by Gustaf Wingren
