Day 065n: To take the walk Thereto … (06/18/2019)
Despite the soothing promise the city had offered from afar, the hike up & into Lauzerte was much longer and steeper and hotter than either imagined or desired. Nevertheless, the climb was made, and I entered the city proper and immediately headed into a familiar place of refuge – the local Catholic church (this one dedicated to St. Bartholomew – patron saint of, among other things, bookbinders); a church where I as usual paused for a period of cool reverence – in heartfelt gratitude for this amazing life into which I have been allowed to so boldly leap, and with renewed resolve to walk for peace – come whatever may – until The Walk was done … 🙂
“For it is one thing to see the Land of Peace from a wooded ridge in the distance. It is another thing altogether to boldly walk the very road that leads thereto.” ~ via St. Augustine
