Day 065i: Eternity in a spark; forever in the Now … (06/18/2019)
“Walking causes absorption of all that is greater. Now by walking I mean walking distant lengths; breathing in the height of the mountains when you see them in the near or far distance; breathing in the shape of the hills for hours at a time during every slow descent; breathing in the thick lushness of the woods with every step that parses and peels back the same. It is an innate trait of the human body that it effortlessly becomes soaked in – and blended into – the Earth as it treads. And thus, gradually, it stops being in the landscape, and literally becomes a facet of the landscape instead. This doesn’t mean a dissolution of self, as if the walker were fading away to become a mere inflection or porous mirage, a mere footnote to the surrounding entirety. No, this blending is more an empowering unification; a dancing flame, an illumination of all that is nearby, an active agent of the will of the whole. And in these moments, the feeling of the eternity of time and the massive expanse of the Cosmos is all at once felt within the walker – a shared vibration between presences. Forever, here, in a spark – forever, in every step.” ~ inspired by Frédéric Gros
