Day 063j: The inadvertent virtues of Variare … (06/16/2019)

I thereafter walked into and through Limogne en Quency, a town that was strangely church-less, which might have been why I became so fixated on the church steeple of Variare – of the next village on The Way. I don’t regret this hyper-focus – an intense attention that inadvertently took me of the Camino entirely (Variare proper was not part of my route, and yet I was so yearning for the restful cool confines of a church that I walked right past my turn and headed there anyway), for it turned out to be a detour well worth it, as Variare’s sanctuary was indeed as visually beautiful as it was mentally soothing … 🙂

“What we fail so often to realize is that Grace is more than a blessing or a destination. Instead, it is provided us incessantly. Indeed, it forms the very journey itself, manifested in each breath inhaled and strengthened with each step taken. Grace surrounds us, whirls ever about us like a cool summer breeze, falls ever upon us like a soft rainshower. Grace sustains us on our journeys, no matter how perilous or boring they may be. And make no mistake, they are all perilous – and they will all at times be boring. So it is important to remember that we need not hope for Grace to arrive. We merely need to open our eyes to its ubiquitous abundance. Grace is all around us, not just in hopeful futures but in every miracle of Now.” ~ inspired by Richard Paul Evans
