Day 063h: To dignify the Dolmens … (06/16/2019)

Even though we all have long way to travel, and even though we all only have a limited number of days to ‘get there,’ it is always wise to pause and explore the many wonderments that meet us along The Way. And so it was that I came across a sign telling me that the Joncas Dolmen was a mere 100 meters off the path – and so it was that I headed thereto smoothly and without hesitation – and so it was that rested briefly in the thick peace that surrounded that place; a peace that comes partly from being in the presence of any structure built thousands of years prior*, yes, and yet also a peace that comes from dolmens – liminal guardians of the vapor-thin boundaries that exist between our past & our present, our heritage & our potential, and our life & our death … πŸ™‚

*Dolmens (single-chamber stone monuments consisting of two or more vertical megaliths supporting one large horizontal capstone) are scattered across the planet, and both the method & the purpose of their construction to this day remain a mystery, though most archaeologists believe them to be ancient tombs. Most of the world’s dolmens date from the early Neolithic Period (4000-3000 BC).

P.S. This nearby “ceremonial spring” was much more modern (and therefore possibly not quite as Meaning-full), and yet it emanated a similarly profound Peace nonetheless … πŸ™‚
