Day 47c: Fortune ever favoring the Bold … (05/31/2019)

Along the entirety of the Walk to this point, I had been gently yet insistently telling all the dairy cows I came across that their human “owners” actually did NOT have their best interests at heart, and that they should all band together as soon as possible and make a run for the nearest copse of deep woods they could find … Needless to say, I didn’t find any takers for my correct yet seemingly crazy plan, and I often walked on lamenting the extremely sad fact that we humans somehow still — in the year 2019 at the time — believe it is fully acceptable to enslave these innocent creatures and then brutally murder them in their youth; all without any valid justification whatsoever; all because we lusted for the taste of their flesh or stolen secretions — all because these are truly the most gentle of beings, and would never think of harming us in return … 🙁

That said, on this morning I received a truly joyful reprieve from that regular lamentation, in the form of two young lambs who had obviously escaped their own cruel masters — lambs who were living far more contented lives, and lambs who would undeniably suffer far less traumatic deaths … 😀

“My purpose in life is to give Love, and this especially to the animals. For they all ask for so little while giving us everything that truly matters in return. Indeed, the simplicity and unconditionality of their own Love is something we should all strive to exude, as it would make the critical troubles of the world smoothly fade and pass, while repeatedly reminding us of the profound beauty that resides at the very center even the most banal of our days.” ~ inspired by Bristol Mathes
