Day 41d: The Sign of the Times … (05/25/2019)

I found it fascinating to see so may sculptures and stained glass images of Jesus Christ that had him holding up various Indian mudras (most often with his right hand; the hand of offering &/or teaching &/or blessing in the Jewish culture of his day) while walking along The Way. Here, in the stained glass window that overlooks the altar in the Catholic church of St Genix sur Guiers, Jesus is seen exhibiting the Ardhapataka mudra, a symbol that represents the banks of a flowing river upon which bridges can be built — in the logistical sense from one side of a river to the other, yes, and yet also in a spiritual sense — from one’s smaller self to (and into) all the others in one’s environment … 🙂

“While the ego ever says ‘I am this’ or ‘I am that’, thus attaching itself firmly and inflexibly to but a small portion of the Vastness, the True Self — like the grand espousals of Jesus Christ, especially in the Gospel of John — ever says ‘I, the I Am’, thereby fully re-melding one’s seemingly separate self with the totality of one’s surroundings, and indeed with the All of the Universe.” ~ inspired by Ravi Ravindra
