Day 30g: Not on my Watch 2 … (05/14/2019)

I saunter-limp onward all the way to the city of Morges, where the local protestant church is locked up tight (sadly typical) and its Catholic cousin is wide open and welcoming (just as commonplace). I thankfully enter the latter’s peaceful sanctuary and hunker down on one of the rear pews to rest and write a bit in my pilgrimage journal, emptying my smock’s front pockets before doing so — an act that exposes the fact that someone has (quite against my wishes) recently slipped a 10 Euro bill into the same … :O

No matter, of course, as the purity of my Mission is not predicated upon keeping others from secretly giving me money, but rather solely upon me continually refusing to in any way utilize money in any way.

So, completely true to that faithful form, I smiled out loud while taking this well-intended-yet-for-me-fully-unusable gift and letting it fall to the church floor; allowing it to remain upon the exact spot it came to rest while I packed up my things and headed — once again perfectly penniless — back out onto The Way … 😀

“I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than be slowly stifled by dry-rot. Indeed I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me flaring out in magnificent glow, than drone on as a sleepy and more permanent planet. For the function of man is to live, not merely exist. So I shall not waste my days merely trying to prolong them. No, my Friends … I shall fully use my time.” ~ via Jack London
